Welcome Wildcats
It is with much pride that I welcome new and returning students, families and staff members to Spring Valley District 99 for the 2011-2012 school year. As I begin my fourteenth year at Spring Valley District 99, I cannot emphasize enough my gratitude to our District community for its continued support.
I am enthusiastic about the future of our schools. I will soon be overseeing the building project at JFK. We are awaiting state funding from the recently passed Capital Development Bill. This addition will help meet our growing student enrollment.
We also have a new a Apple Mac Book lab at JFK and a Mac Book for each teacher in the district. Teachers and students will be learning about the Apple computers together.
The seventh grade students are in year 2 of the 1:1 initiative. Each student has their own Apple MacBook. The sixth grade students are also beginning the Apple 1:1 computer initiative. Each student will have their own iPad. This is an exciting look into the future use of technology in schools.
We have also added new staff. I would like to welcome Kristen Grubich, Lindsey Olszewski, Michael Andreoni, Brittany Baird, Chris Bjork, Sue Cessna, Dave Pytel, Brain Caba and Lauren Baltikawski. These are are great additions to an already strong staff.
Please know I am very grateful to be a member of the Spring Valley District 99 community. I look forward to an outstanding new academic year.
I would also invite everyone to visit Lincoln and Kennedy Schools throughout the year. You will take pride in noticing there are many great things going on in our schools.
Mr. Hermes
